I found a round almost black pc of wood a friend had given me over a year ago today. I was using it to weight down some brown paper bags and never thought much about using it. It was sealed and almost black looking.

Decided it was time to turn it - under the black I was suprised to see all the colors and patterns in the wood - turned to finish thickness....
....sanded to 220....2 coats CA to fill in the grain.....sanded again with 220 then up to 800..........EEE and shellawax finish

So anybody know what kind of wood this may be ? its great and I sure would like to make some vessels out of it............let me know and thanks

It is genuine fig wood. (found in garage  )
Turned dark with age and was hard to turn? I was thinking Osage Orange but have never seen figure like that in OO.
I do know it is a very attractive bowl.
