Bryan you have a way of taking a wood like ash and making it look like oak. For my money i like the lighter version two posts prior.

another project is all but over bryan that heavy look is starting to grow on me..and you done well with your ash lumber,, alot folks arent aware of how ash can look after its done right..as for your stain not going in well to begin with ,, was it because the sanded finish was to smooth? and i know you got it where you wanted it to be,, did you tone the lacquer to even out or just rub the stain with spirts?
