    I heard once you could turn them down into really nice mallets. They are supposed to have a hardwood core. Never done it myself, but I read it somewhere.

    They make good pistol targets. The trick is to knock them off a bench, not just down.

    And getting the plastic outer layer off to get to the hardwood core is non-trivial.
    Where are we going? And what am I doing in this handbasket?
