My niece's son (I guess that makes him my grand-nephew) swam in his first competitive swim meet Saturday. Like a lot of dads, her husband videotaped the event. Unlike most dads, though, he turned the video into a couple of tongue-in-cheek movie trailers.
Her husband has a great sense of humor, and is quite possibly one of the world's greatest dads. He and his son are really and truly best friends.
Although she doesn't swim a lot these days, my niece was a very strong competitive swimmer when she was in school. She specialized in long races (10,000 meters was her strong event) and also was a mean water polo player. (She was elected to be the captain of the boy's high school water polo team for two or three years.) Her son has been swimming since he was an infant, so I suspect he'll do pretty well in competition. I have no idea how he did Saturday, though.
