Medieval tents

Saw this and thought I would post it for Chuck and anyone else that is into this time period. Pretty cool stuff!

I've helped with the wooden parts for some of my brother-in-law's Viking tents, but they're not quite as sophisticated as Fritz's are.



I thought our Viking bed was pretty cool, though...

I think your bed overtakes Friz's bed by far. Thats a real cool bed the Danes would be happy to rest their heads on it.

After tracing the design onto the wood with pencil, he used a Roto-Zip and a dull bit in a router base to "carve" the design. In essence, it was rotary burned. In some cases, he also used brown Kiwi shoe polish to darken the design. It actually came out looking great, but it sure smoked up the back yard when he'd come over to work on it. He's done similar "carving" on a number of his other Viking furniture pieces.
