Congratulations on your new helper Brent! I love the smell of diesel in the morning! And, well, hydraulics just make everything easier. One of those is on my list too, if only to retire the fork and wheelbarrow for barn cleaning.
Does your friend have a quick attach bucket? If not, I think there are economical kits available which make swapping attachments much easier.
    Have fun and play safe!

Now that Bob is home safe I can say this. The last one I bought my dealer sold to me at his cost. Not a dime more just exactly what it cost him. His reason behind that was the thousands of dollars I than spent on attachments. Yup he had me hook line and sinker.
He tried very hard to sell me a backhoe for it but never could get me to swallow that. Instead he sold me an excavator

Sort of like the printer manufacturers selling their printers at cost, knowing they're gonna make up the difference when you start buying ink cartridges.

I do have to say, for me, it's really kind of fun. Just got off what is apparently my daily 'chore' time with bob. Moved some more firewood and cleared some more brush....

And here we have a Backhoe arm with a 12" bucket and a "thumb" so I can use him to grab things and pick them up, and an extension boom, to turn him in to a mini crane...

This weekend I've got some trees to plant. No more jack hammering and pulling dirt out a handful at a time...

So...are you getting an auger? Makes digging those planting holes a lot easier!
