The Beginnings of a Great Bench Thread

Not here, but over at SMC. Derek Cohen has started a thread asking some questions about a Roubo style bench he intends to build. The feedback he is getting from his questions haw been great. There are some people weighing in that really know what they are talking about. It kind of reminds me of Marty's shop build. I have been really impressed with Micheal Peet's responses and followed his link to his own Roubo bench build. Highly recommended!

I don't know if Derek intends to keep this thread going with his build, but I wish he would.

    Hi Bill

That bench is now complete. I would like to think that it was done in a record 6 weekends, but one extra was needed to rebuild a section (read the posts to discover what!).

The full write up is on my website: http://www.inthewoodshop.com/ShopMadeTools/index.html

Scroll down to "Building of a Bench". There are several chapters.

My bench also took somewhere around 6 to 7, Derek. Months that is! I was following your bench thread as you built it, but am glad you have preserved it over at your website.
