Ford F250 Turbo Diesel

My '63 Dodge 1/2 ton with a slant six got over 20 mpg with me trying to hot rod it. Now my '63 GMC I swapped the Dodge for had a V6 that only got about 9 mpg! (kept me close to home!). Yep, all this hoopla over electric when golf carts been doing it for years. I had a '86 Ford Escort with a 3 cyl. diesel that got over 40 mpg then! I agree Bart. Heck the old Studebakers with 4 tons of body would get in the 20's for mpg with their overdrives.

I'm not saying the auto manufacturers are being completely up-front with us, but keep in mind that the 1953 Willies Aero Ace 6 cylinder probably wouldn't do 75 to 80 MPH (at least comfortably). In my opinion, I've gotten out of as many potential problems with my accelerator as I have with my brakes. Electric cars were around before gasoline vehicles, but with what sort of range? Can you get 300 miles out of a single charge in a golf cart? Also that old Studebaker probably wouldn't pass any emissions tests. Despite the arguments against emissions testing, I've seen firsthand the improvements that came about from the last 20 years of emissions laws in Southern California.
