My doghouse the wife built update

Well done Alan. I see you believe in keeping the boxes or cases that tools came in and storing them in that.

Will you be putting doors on the shelves or they going to stay open?

Nice job Allen. I enjoy seeing how others organize their spaces, picked up a few good ideas from yours. I really like the drawer size/spacing on the lower, I'll be doing at least one set that way when I build mine. Making your own cabinets for the plastic drawers is a great idea. I've got 3 different ones around and they don't really fit anywhere well, that might be just the ticket. :thumb:

I'm going to put door and drawer fronts on every cabinet. I'm gonna use some red oak I have lying around for the stiles and rails and 1/4" luan plywood for the panels. Nothing fancy as they are just shop cabinets.

I did get the other cabinet for the small parts drawers made.

Then I needed to find different storage for my finishes. Just wasn't happy with where I had them in the brown cabinet next to the drill press. There was no more room for any more and it blocked access to the new cabinet.

That's when I decided that this cabinet needed updating as it was kind of useless in it's current configuration.

This is what I came up with. Built with nothing but scrap I had stored around the shop but wasn't sure why I was keeping it till now. I still need to put some poplar face frames on the ends along with drill holes for the shelving and build the doors. Now I can roll the cabinet to where ever I'm doing the finishing and it can still double as in feed support for the table saw, band saw or surface planer.

Now I have a home for the shop vac since that brown cabinet is gone!

Loml went out and bought me a new air hose reel that I hung from the ceiling instead of on the wall next to the work bench. Wish I had done it that way originally.

Well I had a very pleasant fathers day weekend. All shop time!:D

I whipped out the doors for my cabinets from some red and white oak that was meant to make pallets with. I milled the material and assembled the doors yesterday and sanded and hung them today.

I used blums compact series hinge to keep the hinges from intruding in my cabinets.

Now I need to figure out how I want to store/hang some of my hand tools.

I also have quite a bit of drawer space left over.

I also managed to get the frames installed on my finish cart. Once I get some more material I'll get the doors for the cart and the drawer fronts for the work bench made.

I got some more done as far as getting tools organized but haven't had time to post pictures till now. I still need to get some more wood to do the doors for my roll around finish cabinet and the drawer fronts at the work bench.

My next project is a decent table for my drill press. I want dust collection, replaceable inserts and slots for a fence and hold downs. I kind of like the one stumpynubs just did but I think I need to simplify it a little.

Thanks everyone . I find it much easier to keep the shop clean and organized since I did this remodel.

I just moved into the 21st century this week by getting a smart phone and got the app to do a 360 panorama view. I thought i would post both pictures since one is a photographic view and the other is supposed to be in 3D. Not sure how to make it any larger and still be able to upload it.

Just finally got around to finishing the drawer fronts for the work bench. Each bank of drawer fronts was originally made as one unit that I crosscut after assembly into individual drawer fronts.
