I have seen references to turning spatulas and spoons, but haven't seeen any being turned. However, when I went to the dollar store yesterday to buy two plastic spatulas and a slotted spoon, I saw some wooden ones and wondered if this was somethng I could knock off on my lathe without too much bother. Would it work if I cut a blank out of wood in the shape I need, and then turned the handle round and shaped the blade on the bandsaw? Anyone here done this?

I've not done it, but as I understand it, you've got the right idea...turn the handle and do the rest with a bandsaw and sandpaper. A benchtop belt sander is handy for the final shaping.

I have done a few and that's how I do it.Google treenware and you will find a lot of info. Here is a tutorial on making wooden spatulas.
