    Kermit's New Hat

In this thread......... HERE ......... I talk about the rebuild of the old 1963 drill press I got.

I hated the cover that someone had fabricated for it, so I left it off, this, was not the best situation, so I made a new hat for Kermit............

I took a cheap SS bowl and cut it in half, then put a piece of sheet metal on the bottom and attached it to Kermit.

This should keep my fingers out of the pulley

More to do on Kermit, but I've been busy, this one was done, as I like being able to count to ten on my fingers

    Cheers!

    Hey. I like it!!

    Looks pretty snazzy

I agree. All drill presses need their belt/pulley guards/covers.

I lost the tip of my left small finger when I was a sophmore in high school.
Old drill press with no guard, toggle switch up close to the driven pulley.
I reached up to shut it off, and my finger just wandered into the belt/pulley.
    OUCH
Pulled out my finger nail, took off hide, and the bone was showing

Overnight hospital stay. Doc took off some skin from my leg and grafted it onto my finger. I had hair growing on my finger for about 6 months.
I still remember my folks talking about what that trip to the hospital cost.
It cost them a whopping $108.00
That was a lot of money to them back in 1967

Nice Stu! I think "Boshii Bowl" is appropriate!

Been trying to remember what it was that looked liked and I finally remembered!
