    Bearing Trivia

In replacing the bearings on my scroll saw i had to buy two new Timken tappered bearings. Of course the dreaded value engineering guys got hold of this in later models and replaced them with the roller type.

Well Timken is a bearing company in the USA where bearings are still made in the USA. (hopefully meaning quality)

Anyhow to ensure this guy gets credit in 2012 it may interest you to know Henry Timken invented the tappered roller bearing and founded the company.

here is the info on wiki peadia if you wish to know more details.

Incredible to think this was in 1899 and the company is still going today.
    cheers

Good bearings. Had to order some a while back and the parts store had them for $80 for two races and bearings. Found the same ones using the part numbers from the part's store on-line catalog. Got them for a total of $19 (shipping included) from a bearing supplier.
