A friend of mine has been after me for a while to turn him a couple of strikers. For those who don't know. They are used to rub the end across a piece of slate, glass, aluminum and several other things to call a turkey. One is curly maple the other ambrosia. I don't turn much and was wanting opinions as to shape and how would you refine them?

Thanks

Never heard of them but I'll give one a try. We have turkeys all over the yard and neighborhood. Do you rub the tip on the slate or glass??

They look too nice to take into the woods John :thumb:

From the looks of it Bob...you could put a match and sandpaper in the end to start the deep frier for that turkey...hence the name striker!

Those are a lot prettier than the one I made. I left the dowel portion of mine bare so they would slide across the slate and make a scratch sound... I would think the finish would just slide and not create a sound... 21-345.jpg
