I just joined the forum, I came across this thread today and thought it would be a great place. Im pretty busy with my work, but when i can I will drop in.
Thanks Tom,
Im not sure I can share my stuff since it is my business/what I make a living at. Some people have it as a hobby though. Im saying this, since it could be taken as advertising and that wasn't my intention when i joined.
Dennis,
if what you do for a living is woodworking, share away, so long as you're sharing it as 'hey, look what I've been up to' vs 'buy this, I made it'... We do have a commercial area where you may post as well (guidelines for that are found here). Welcome to the forums, looking forward to seeing what you do!
Thanks for the warm welcome and thanks for explaining that I don't have to hide what i do. Im a luthier by trade and build high end guitars. Are there any other guitar builders on this site?
I will post a couple pictures, if you want to see more, I can do so.
Oh man Dennis are you gona be liked on here Those are Beautiful. I'm building Cigar Box Guitar's and Sturm sticks right now...and having a blast. Of course I still dont know how to play them but I did start Guitar lessons 4 weeks ago
Beautiful, Dennis. You are very accomplished and you know or also are a really great photographer. I am sure we can learn lots from you. Welcome aboard. It DOES get a little crazy around here from time to time.
Thanks Carol, The pictures you see were taken by my son. I don't take bad pictures with a point and shoot, but still not as good as him. I have lots to learn with it comes to that.
Thanks Ned for the kind complement. I will pass it along to him. He is in his last year for Graphic Design, in which a big part of the program is Photography.
Those guitars are gorgeous, Dennis. I particularly like the looks of the one with the chamfered edges. How does that seem to affect the sound?
We don't have any pro luthiers here that I know of, although Alex Reid built a very nice one in his spare time a while back. Lots of guitar player here though, including me.
And welcome aboard. I'm betting we can learn a lot of good stuff from you about woodworking in general. You've obviously got a broad range of skills.
