Electrical Requirement for 1 1/2 Hp Motor

I decided to look at what a 1 1/2 hp motor like on the Jet 1642evs would require. In my web surfing I saw where a 1 1/2 hp motor requires a 30 amp circuit. Is this correct?. I have a 100 amp subpanel so I have the power there.

I've never seen a 1 1/2 hp motor that required more than a 20 amp circuit. The manual for that lathe indicates that it is looking for 12 to 16 amps, so a standard 20 amp circuit should have you covered just fine.

Mine is on a 20a circuit and runs just fine with a couple little do-dads running on the same circuit.
