I was waiting for some finish to dry and so knocked another item of the to-do list. My daily user chisels are in a drawer at the bench. I had rigged a method of holding things in place but, as always happens, things changed. I ripped a couple strips out of a piece of scrap. Setup an indexing pin on the TS sled and cut a series of 1/8" wide by 1/4" deep dados in them. I then ripped some scrap 1/8" pegboard into 1" strips and cut them to length. The slotted rails are stuck on with a bit of carpet tape since . . . things change. The pegboard strips just slide in. I put the shelf liner in before everything else so the side rails hold it tight. The last method lasted quite awhile. We'll see how long it is before things change again ;-)

I wish to heck that I had acquired some of your neatness gene. I really do admire neatness with everything in its place and a place for everything. I just cannot seem to do it.

Well actually I did do it when I built my office. I accomplished it by having it three times the size of a typical office and having all of the cabinets designed so the contractor put them in with a place for every piece of equipment and tool and with plenty of room to expand.

Enjoy,

JimB

Thanks Jim for your post it makes me feel normal. :)

Glenn you just never cease to impress and amaze me. You need to share some of those genes man. I am working hard on the process. :)

Cool idea quick and easy to do.

I will absolutely swap for a flitch from the wood-porn site you posted . My dad and LOML share the same view on drawers; "if something will still fit, its not full". I like to open a drawer (or cabinet), reach in and remove what I am after (without having to move something else first or causing an avalanche) and be able to put said item back in the same manner. Nothing will send something flying across the shop faster than it's being in the way of what I am after. If the item "in the way" doesn't have a place, this will often cause me to stop whatever I am doing, and build somewhere for it to go. If it is not worthy of that much effort it will be banished to the shed or the curb, depending on my mood. Having stuff I can't get to, or that is too much trouble to use, is not "having stuff" to me; it is just stuff (and usually in my way). :D:D:D
