It's Friday! 8/10 Edition

Tomorrow we have a reunion , kind of a different reunion then most. It's one where all the kids that grew up together with about a 5 difference in ages get together. Last year 150 showed. From our own little corner of the town. "Brookies"

Taking care of my neice and nephew tomorrow morning while my sister gets in a long run (20 miles) as my BIL is in Sturgis thru the weekend. Tomorrow night out with a few friends we haven't seen all summer. Sunday is shop time and getting ready for a trip to Lake Superior next week...can't wait for mornings on the kayak, afternoons bike riding and the nights around the fire and 50 degree temps!

If all goes well, I should get a couple of rudimentary woodworking projects completed, pics to follow.

<Let the chuckles begin> :scram:

The wife and I have been watching grandkids all week:doh: so we are getting in the truck Saturday morning and heading off somewhere. Don't know where just getting the heck out of here for the day.

Lobster is almost cheaper than hamburg around here ($3.99 lb) so Sunday we will probably pick up a load of them plus some steamers and will gorge ourselves:drool:

Bob, I'll send you 10 pounds of hamburger in exchange for 8 pound of lobster. Deal? :D

Going out tonight to see some musician friends playing at one of the local casinos, but aside from that, nothing real exciting going on. I've got some moonlighting work (book editing) that will probably use up a good chunk of time.

Touring a new local brewery with the my homebrew club tonight (http://pfriembeer.com/ all belgian beer styles with a "northwest twist"). Should be interesting, he has a nice brewery with lots of shiny new equipment. They have good food as well (based on one lunch there a day after they opened officially last week).

Hopefully get some work done on the table for lomls sewing room. Hope to finish up returning the last of the walnut bowls I did this spring (only one left! - yeah yeah I'll take some pics eventually and update the old thread). Might work on making the logo brand for the tap handles I'm doing for my friends brewery (not doing anything crazy with the logo just an S inside a circle.. we'll see how that goes my metalworking tools/skills are pretty primitive).

Going to a baseball game tonight with most of my family and my grandniece. I don't know yet if I'm staying over in T.O., I'll have to wait until SWMBO tells me. If I get time in the shop, I'll be finishing up the gift items I'm making for my girls. Sunday is our wonderful interim priest's second last service, so I definitely want to be there.

Just talked to LOML. I'm not staying over.

a few estate sales, seems my wife likes looking at others peoples junk, but I do enjoy going into those estate sales where the garage hasnt been touched for 40 years.
Last week, my wife refused to let me dig into the pile of rusted junk.
The roof of the garage was falling in and someone put 2x4s to keep it from falling in, my wife didnt want me to walk under it and touch anything fearing the entire roof would come down.
I find tons of saws, cheap hand tools, but nothing too decent just yet.
and ofcourse, Ill be cutting stiles and rails all weekend.

well i have been making sawchips so i can have room for the group coming in sept and tomorrow we will be going to get some of the food to feed this group of gypsies:)

Just did a 900 mile round trip in 2-1/2 days for a parental scare. Mom is back home from the hospital and doing as well as a 90 year old in failing health can manage. I suspect this won't be the only time this year. Dad is in poorer health and doesn't fair well when Mom is gone. I am back home and tired. I will spend the weekend doubling up on work to catch up. Thank God for a younger sister who has more time to devote to this emergency. Whatever she decides is a proper level for the folks' continuing care is just fine with me. Now if it will be just fine with the folks is another story. Tough time in everyone's life.

Tomorrow I have a market at the local farmer's market... then back home in the afternoon, hopefully it won't rain tomorrow and I can get the lawn mower out... my grass is knee high to a short giraffe and it's just rained a gully washer again this evening... I can't mow the hill when the ground is wet, the tractor keeps sliding down the hill... I'll have to rake Sunday because I'll can't bale the grass for hay.
