Question, I build a lot of exterior storm windows for historic houses. Up until now I have always been asked to use pine for the frames which seems to work well when primed and painted to match the old houses. Im now asked to build storm doors. I dont think pine is a good choice. What would you use keeping cost in mind, is poplar a good choice? I dont have a lot of choices at the local lumber stores. Just wondering what you would use for these doors. Thanks.

Hemlock is a very good choice for exterior to. Used alot around my area for siding, and even rough cut barns. durable and the wood boring bumble bees wont even attack it
