    It is beautiful. But what the heck does someone do with it? You cannot set it on a coffee table as a decoration. I doubt if anyone would use it as a Christmas tree ornament. It is a great shape for a pestle; it's the wrong material for that.

    It is beautiful and I like it; just puzzled.

    It's in the title , A Darning Mushroom.

    Thankfully not needed so much in daily life by the modern housewife due to modern fabrics but still used by folks into fabric conservation work.
    The Needles are stored in the handle.

    Oh I remember these...that may come back to bite my in the booty! You would put it inside a sock as a rest for the material the sew up the hole. Big with military wife's everywhere.
