touch wood -- musical wooden commercial

Normally I'd expect Stu to be the one telling us about interesting adventures in woodworking happening in Japan...

But my brother just sent me this. More than a little cool

Touch Wood in a Japanese Forest with Bach

(a wooden ball rolls down a ramp, repeated dropping on bits of wood that are tuned to play "Jesu joy of man's desiring"

Or just jump straight to the youtube video (the above link also has a brief "making of" video):

    Art,

The "how they did it" video you linked to was fascinating. Imagine tuning all those pieces. But wouldn't the tone of each change with the temperature?

    You'd think!!
I was thinking something like that when I saw them shovelling snow off of one of the tracks.

The jaded modernist in me figurses that they faked the soundtrack. but in the making-of, you see them testing it, complete with sounds.
I wonder if they ran it once or twice just with mic's, to get a good soundtrack, and then ran it some more times with video?

I was thinking the same as well as how the snow/ice on the planks would have affected the angles. Pretty cool none the less.
