Ugly TN oak

This is a burl a friend brought over last weekend. It was really old, dry, and half rotten.Tryed to turn it that day,but it was just falling apart. So i took and mixed up some white glue and water and covered it in this mix. Let for a couple days, and remounted and this is what it became. 7x 4 or there abouts. Finish is just teak oil. Thanks

That looks great. I love oak burl the way the grain twists and spirals around. I've got an oak that needs to be cut and the bottom I think is going to be burl! I hope it only looks half as good as this one.

great piece of oak.. now how does the glue work and finsih it? seems like the glue would mess with the finish?

I think it acts to stabilize the wood. With it thinned the mixture soaks into the wood and hardens it.

It's what i had read, and it did do what they said it would. As far as a finish didn't seem to effect it at all.

Nice save and nice result.
You actually sorta stabilized it. If something like that will fit in the pot it can be stabilized.
