Is anyone else experiencing long delays getting the site to come up? I have noticed a problem for the last couple of days. Just now it took almost four minutes for the site to open for me.

Same here - long time to load, and even longer to get to a thread. This 'reply with quote' box has been loading for nearly two minutes, and I still don't see the quoted text.

Last time I tried to log on, I got a long delay, then something that looked like a "C" (programming language) file. Dunno what's up!

Yeah, site response has been pretty spotty here today, too. Not seeing anything obvious at Bluehost...perhaps Darren was able to dig deeper than me.

I always get a lonnnggg delays once I hit Ace Data Center's piece of the network. I've also had problems with them due to DF bit settings. I've sent some protocol "sniffs" along but, they have a right to run their piece of the world as they see fit.

Sorry, been dealing with dr appointments all day, wife hurt her knee, getting an MRI now. Will be home later to look at it. How many of you are using chrome? Been seeing issues with mine. My Firefox was cruising compared to chrome yesterday.

I use Chrome almost exclusively, but I'm not seeing the same issue.

Cynthia, I definitely don't get that issue you are seeing. I suspect it's not due to chrome, but whatever antivirus software it is you have installed.

I'll take a look and see if we are seeing any issues with the database performance.

We've look through the logs, and aren't really seeing anything on the server side that would be causing problems.

Not much in the way of slow queries, or cpu throttling.

I'm thinking Glenn might be on to something with the network issues.

just curious, what would "network issues" be ???

As it travels from the Bluehost servers to your computer, the data goes through several other servers along the way. if any one of them are slow, the whole delivery is delayed. For example, Ace Data Center is one that things go through on their way to Glenn's. Different locations will use different routes.

About 1 time in 5 I get an error message. It says something about Chrome not being able to make the connection. I wait a few minutes and try it again and it works. Next time I will write the error message on that old fashion device---paper. That way I can tell you exactly what it says. Just remember, I cannot remember any more. "Quoth the Raven, Nevermore."

I use Chrome exclusively.

Enjoy,
JimB
