Silly Question: rewiring the basement.

SHE: Doc, buy me some oops paint while you're there.

ME: What in the world for?

SHE: I want to paint the storage hallway. And also the floor. See if they have floor oops paint.

ME: but it's paneling. It won't hold paint. And the floor is made of old linoleum squares. Paint won't stick!

SHE: That's what KILLZ is for. Do I have to call my other boyfriend?

What in the world is "oops" paint? I thought I might have figured it out from context, but my mental freeway isn't following the line of logic in your wife's train of thought.

And I just have to add that I love reading the colourful conversations between you and your beloved.
Oh yeah, and the freezer cut out so you can tuck it into the wall behind the furnace is very clever.

Wait. You mean the discounted mistints?

And I'm somewhat terrified to admit that I showed my beloved this, so she could share my laugh at your conversation, and she figured it out.

Bill, I know poets and their agents live a somewhat different existence than the rest of the hoi polloi, but painting walls while wearing a dress and pearls really drives that point home. :D I'm guessing you were in your top hat and tails?

Vaughn, you don't know the half of it... ;) I'm a lucky man!

Here she is, paintbrush in hand, all dressed up in her wood shop clothes:

Art,

Oops paint is the mistakes they make when tinting the base. They sell it for somewhere between 5 and 7 bucks a gallon. Somedays you get lucky.

In this case, somebody ordered some kind of deck coating ("Restore") which usually goes for 35 bucks a gallon. Waterproof, sticks to anything, lasts forever. They tinted it to 'old brick', but evidently the customer didn't like the results. 7 bucks a gallon for that? "Shut up and take my money!"

Especially since what was on that floor was bare concrete, and then ancient linoleum tiles. White embossed faux brick pattern. They don't make glue like that any more: what ever it is, those things aren't coming up without a jackhammer. So Killz on top, and then the deck coating.

Came out great. Looks surprisingly like old, worn brick. Waterproof, too.

New coat of paint for the bifold doors:

Curtains and paintings and tables and chairs:

And a nice rug:

And I upgraded the wiring in there today. She's happy with the result!

Thanks,
