after about 16 hours. we had a real corker come through here night before last, lots of lightning and thunder, and heavy rain. roughly 130k without power after that one. last night was the one that tops them all. when we left the y, and went to a local eatery, it had changed from a few drops to can't see 6 feet in front of your car, with 50-70 mph winds blowing it sideways. it really hit when we were in the parking lot, and then decided to try for home, as we could not open the car doors without getting soaked. we plowed through about a mile and a half of high winds, better than heavy, blowing sideways, can't see 5 ft in front of your car rain, roads that were turned into lakes, and our alley was turned into a river. when we turned onto our cross street, we had to gun it to keep it going, as it was almost a foot deep. it was roughly the same at the end of the alley, which had become a river. swam through it, and when close enough, hit the button for the garage door, and hoped we had power. luckily enough, the door opened, and we were out of it, we thought. closed the big door, and opened the little door, and about 4 inches of standing water came pouring though. you should have seen the wife jump! we lucked out, as someone was at the back door to let us run in. even then, we were soaked from head to foot running the distance of about 12 feet. nothing like we have ever seen around here. looked like what you see during a hurricane, only worse. lots of trees around here broken and down. there was enough wind to knock down a road closed sign that had 2 sand bags on each of it's 4 feet. if that wasn't fun enough, a few hours later, another storm came running through here. other than that, weems ok.
