4th July TV fireworks shows .....did you watch any entertainment last night.

Well each 4th July i really like to watch the concerts that are put on followed by fireworks.

Usually i watch the Boston Pops, but this year given the move i have a new cable provider and urgg try as i did to get it even ordered a special HD TV specialty pack which claimed to have WBZ which was supposedly broadcasting it, but no luck our illuminati were not having it that we watch Boston. So cancelled.

ended up watching a bit of the Macys show but was not my cup of tea so i switched to the Capital Fourth, on PBS with the National Symphony Orchestra.

I dunno neither can outdo the Boston Pops in my view

Capital Forth brought out 70 year old Barry Manilow and hey I dunno why these show biz types feel the need to get a face lift and keep going even when their voice is not what it was. I was embarrassed for him in the beginning. Feel the same when i see old Paul McCartney on stage battling to hit the notes. Man these guys should make way for some younger talent they had their limelight and made their coin. But the show was salvaged by a 72 year old Neil Diamond. At least he did not feel the need to pretend he is not getting older and he still has the voice and moves.
I liked it when they brought on Scotty McCreery from American Idol fame. Good to see the young guns getting a chance to strut their stuff. Hope he goes far. Noticed he was in Reno doing a show when BW was on. Was a close call going to BW or see Scotty. Not really.

Was good to see the crowd participating and waving flags like crazy all around the capital building. Fireworks were great but no match for Boston when i have been able to watch Boston maybe i am just biased. Other great fireworks show i have seen in person on 4th July is Pittsburg. Man they lay it on at the river bend.

So what did you watch and think?
    cheers

Well, I didn't watch TV! Or hear any music. I did watch the Boston Pops one year, and it was amazing. The town here had a nice display of fireworks that I could see from the park. No need to battle traffic or crowds. And God lit the sky with lightning that made the man-made fireworks pale by comparison! Hope no new fires were started last night. One is more than enough. And Saturday night one of the local casinos is having a fireworks show. It is so close to me I won't even have to step outdoors! I will be able to watch through the window.

Interesting that they always do the 1812 Overture, and everyone thinks it's patriotic. Actually, it was written to celebrate the Russian victory over Napoleon. It has nothing to do with the U.S. War of 1812.

It's still a great performance, though.

Didn't watch any fireworks on TV, and this year I didn't even watch the local show that's put on every year at a nearby school. (We can see the aerial stuff from our back yard.) Despite the very high fire danger and the fact that fireworks are banned in LA County, it sounded like a war zone here until well after midnight. I'm not sure, but I think I might have heard this in the far distance, too:

I decided to add to the noise by setting up guitar amp in the front yard and playing The Star Spangled Banner on 11. Most of the neighbors on our cul-de-sac are out of town this weekend, but I did hear Ralph down the street yell "Way to go, Vaughn!" after I was done.

    Way to go Vaughn

    No tv.
Went to the local parade, had a cookout, then went to the fireworks in the next town.

Grandsons Jack & Issac won 1st and 2nd place in their age group and grand daughter Emily won 1st place in her age group for bicycle decorating.

    Gotta love small town America

You know, I watched Captain America and Independence day and then went to bed, so I didn't see any of the shows.

My cousins put on a 'little' fireworks show at their place every year. It's grown to be almost a full fledged carnival.

I went a few years ago and it's the best darn fireworks show I've ever seen, large town or small town.

This is just the finale from this years show.

They have it setup as a company and raise funds to cover the cost. It's really an amazing endeavor.
