Well each 4th July i really like to watch the concerts that are put on followed by fireworks.
Usually i watch the Boston Pops, but this year given the move i have a new cable provider and urgg try as i did to get it even ordered a special HD TV specialty pack which claimed to have WBZ which was supposedly broadcasting it, but no luck our illuminati were not having it that we watch Boston. So cancelled.
ended up watching a bit of the Macys show but was not my cup of tea so i switched to the Capital Fourth, on PBS with the National Symphony Orchestra.
I dunno neither can outdo the Boston Pops in my view
Capital Forth brought out 70 year old Barry Manilow and hey I dunno why these show biz types feel the need to get a face lift and keep going even when their voice is not what it was. I was embarrassed for him in the beginning. Feel the same when i see old Paul McCartney on stage battling to hit the notes. Man these guys should make way for some younger talent they had their limelight and made their coin. But the show was salvaged by a 72 year old Neil Diamond. At least he did not feel the need to pretend he is not getting older and he still has the voice and moves.
I liked it when they brought on Scotty McCreery from American Idol fame. Good to see the young guns getting a chance to strut their stuff. Hope he goes far. Noticed he was in Reno doing a show when BW was on. Was a close call going to BW or see Scotty. Not really.
Was good to see the crowd participating and waving flags like crazy all around the capital building. Fireworks were great but no match for Boston when i have been able to watch Boston maybe i am just biased. Other great fireworks show i have seen in person on 4th July is Pittsburg. Man they lay it on at the river bend.
So what did you watch and think?
