Just a quicky, to relax after a hard day at the L shop....

I like this one very much, I got most of the things right on it.

I drill a hole almost all the way through them, I find that when I do this, I do not get, or have not gotten any cracking at all.


The wood was cut just before Christmas last year, sealed up and was still VERY green, wet and gave me a shower.

The wood is Ginko wood.

Do you DRILL out the bottom or do you turn out the bottom?Look great ,I have turned two of them but they are cracking like you said.

I use a spindle gouge and drill it out with that, then I turn the bottom out a bit.

Might be the wood you are using as well, this Ginko is not really "hard", so that might be in my favour.
