    Cherry Slabs

    Does anyone know whats the black lines are in this cherry slab I cut for a table? Im assuming they are worth more then your average cherry slab.Click image for larger version.

    Hi Frank and welcome to the family. I'm no expert...they will chime in later, but it looks like mineral staining/pitch pockets to me. Looking forward to seeing your projects.

    ted, has it right... and some times it will seperate on those grain lines..

    Thanks and I will post a's going to be a while. I'm moving and still need to build my router sled to flatten the piece.
