question about using my indexing head on jet lathe

My jet lathe has 24 positions on the indexing head for fluting.
does this mean if I start at one position, each notch will be 15 degrees?
If I want to make flutes equal distance apart, if I want lets say 4 flutes, does that mean I go 6 notches and each flute will be 90 degrees apart? (equal distances?)
Im a bit confused here. any help would be appreciated.

That's how it worked on my Rikon. All were equal distance apart and 360/24=15.
