Dressed up in a Black Titanium/Platinum Hybrid Cigar Double Twist.
Sanded to 400x, buffed with extra fine steel wool and applied 6 coats of MINWAX WBOM Polyurethane using my "Dipping Method".

Thanks, Les. And I'm assuming this is the wood from the stems of the bush, and not the bean pod itself...correct? Regardless, you sure did a nice job with yours.

TEXAS MOUNTAIN LAUREL (mescal bean) ROOT

It is very rare to find a root ball large enough to salvage workable wood to cut a pen blank. The Texas Mountain Laurel (sophora secundiflora), more commonly called Mescal bean is most commonly found in the hill country of Texas. The plant is a shrub usually no taller the 8 feet and can, in some areas, grow to 35 feet. The plant has purple flowers and has toxic bean pods with bright red beans with dense bright yellow roots.
