i Carver Noise... anyone have similar noises from their machine?

I think it's time I just sit back and wait, considering that today the president of the local woodshop where I bought Nigel has stepped and contacted General... he says give him a couple of days to see what he can come up with, so maybe I should do just that. Anyway, I'm almost to the conclusion that with the variations in speed for no known reason, chatter when the spindle is just being moved to a next vector to start cutting, and totally random noise and chatter locations, it very well might be the software or the controller, and I can't do anything with either of those without General CNC involvement.
I agree. The level of randomness is too high. It won't get solved remotely. The shop needs to be involved. If you can get the same program running on their machine and yours side by side that will tell the difference. If yours makes this noise and theirs doesn't (neither of them should) then suggest that you take theirs home with you and they use yours as a demo machine. That might concentrate their minds.

Today I got an update from the local woodshop. We all now agree that Nigel should be replaced with... someone fresh. There's apparently a backlog and no iCarvers in stock, so it'll be around mid-march that I can make the exchange, but that'll work out just fine. I've recently been spending way too much time with Nigel and have neglected a room addition project I have in process, so I'll just refocus my energy for now.

Thanks for all the great help with my issues. There's obviously a wealth of knowledge here, besides the great camaraderie... I appreciate you sharing both with me.

Thats a good outcome. If CNC is ever going to make it past specialists and enthusiasts it needs somebody who acts like this when a machine is wrong. You'll be ready for Dave when he arrives.

Reginald.... first thought that came to mind when I saw that was Ronald Regan. Must be my dyslexia kicking in.

I'm thinking more like Futz.... Ringworm... Bubba... and leaning toward 4 letters or less.
