Looking for a recommendation for a small tabletop BBQ gas grill under $100. Space is tight in motorhome. Gotta be small. Thanks.

No specific advice, but I've cooked on this type of tabletop grill and found them to be barely usable. The heat has been very uneven in the ones I've used. I'm sure some of the higher-end tabletop grills cook much more evenly.

Carol, I have an earlier model of this one: http://www.amazon.com/Weber-1520-Go...ALK/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?showViewpoints=1 . It's very convenient when the two of us want something simple. This new model is an upgrade to mine, so I think it will perform even better. I'm very much satisfied with it, but with only one complaint, and that is one needs to wait a bit longer for it to really heat up to the point where it can "blacken" a steak, while still cooking to a medium rare doneness. However, I think that is typical of small gas units, but the upgrade probably is better at this than mine. Also, since the "depth" of smaller units is much shallower than the full size units, it is more susceptible to heat loss due to windy conditions, also when removing the cover to check on things as it will take more time to resume its heat than a deeper unit. Using this inside will help, but you still need good ventilation! This is a sheet metal grill. If you can find a cast steel, or cast aluminum, I think those would hold the heat better.

Although the one Al posted looks pretty similar to the one I posted, knowing it's a Weber would make me seriously willing to try it. I've been super happy with my full-sized Weber grill.

This one is in a higher price range than you had in mind, but based on my experience with my Weber Genesis, I'd wager it's worth the extra money. (When I got my Weber, I was debating between a $500 or so Home Depot/Lowe's grill, or a $700 Weber. I learned that gas grills are like tools...you can cry once when you buy the expensive model or or you can cry every time you use the cheaper model.) In my opinion, the Weber folks have got the whole "cooking with fire" thing down.

I also think you would be happier in the long run with the grill that Vaughn last posted. It only hurts once, after that it's all delicious! :thumb:

I've use one like this, it's very portable and takes up little space. :)

Actually the one that Vaughn posted I've used and did a great job. Weber does have the whole grill thing down and it was a pleasure to use. I've also owned a device similar to the George Foreman grill (electric) that did a great job on steaks and more so chicken that cooked from both sides and cooked evenly. The plates on the later version came off for easy cleaning too.

Carol i have an earlier model of this one

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Backyard-Grill-Gas-Grill/31897784

and it works ok for a small portable bbq. What i did though is get the hose that permits it to be hooked up to a 10lb or larger propane tank. Whilst i have a few of those green tanks i keep them specificly for pure emergency.
This unit folds up pretty good like a suitcase. Next time u at Walmart check it out.

I've got one of the cheaper gas grills, What Vaughn said.

That genesis looks like a much better alternative.

In the long run, I'm sure you'd be much happier with the cast iron grates it has.
