I like my metal dado shims much better than the old plastic ones. However, removing them can sometimes be a hassle as they get caught in the arbor threads. While fidgeting with one today it occurred to me I had all that was needed to remove it simply. A magnet, not a terribly strong one, is all that is needed to pull the shim out and avoid having it get caught on threads.

Cool tip Rennie. I hate fiddling with shims so much I just set the stack up undersize and make two passes. This would never cut it in a production shop due to lost time but, works for me.
