We went up to San Juan Island last week while loml had a rare sheep breed wool spinning class. Its at a fairly swank resort place that gives a nice deal for the off season to some of the workshops so they can keep staff on. Part of the deal is we get catered lunches/dinners (yeah spoiled :D) and at the end of it the spinners knit up a little bag to put the tip money for the caterer in. I carved a little button to go along with the bag (and no I didn't have anything to do with the bag design  ).

I love it! How long does it take you to make one?

Way way way to long. I think that I ended up with somewhere around 5+ hours into that one although it was all done with hand tools in somewhat primitive conditions and I used a small scrap of rosewood which is a kind of a pain to carve. I'm seriously considering investing in a power carver of some sort. OTOH I was just sitting around the cabin inbetween walking the dogs so I didn't have a lot else to do.
