    Roof Window ceiling repair

I finished this a week or two ago, but didn't get pics posted.

I had the roof window installed in 2002.

At the time I didn't think I could fix the ceiling - and I have an ENORMOUS amount of "other stuff that needed to be done. At that time I was building my addition and shop. There was so much that needed to be done that details just was NOT on my list of things to do.

Sooo - I just put on the wood trim boards.

This is how the roof window has looked since 2002-2003
I had forgotten even what it looked like under the trim wood - and I was wondering what I could do.

Sooo - I took down the trim and this is what I had.
Now - what am I going to do with THAT??

I spent probably an hour standing there just looking at it.
I told myself that it was an overwhelming problem.
Then - I just figured that I could - just - peck away a little at a time.

First I filled the gaps with door and window foam in the blue can.
Then I just added a little compound at a time every day for about 7-10 days.
I sanded and added - sanded and added.

I tried the spray popcorn - what a mistake.
I then did the sand process I did around the perimeter repairs.

Nice clean look for a very useful device. An opening in the ceiling is a true blessing in hot (106 *F) weather. You did a really classy job on that. I'm sure glad it wasn't me up on that ladder, looking upward and working with my poor stiff neck being tortured.

When I lived in Fallbrook (Calif. that is) we had a 4 x 8' openable skylight. Well it was supposed to be usable. However, the company could not get the gas pistons to work properly. Their solution was to give us back our money for the unit and installation labor and install a mechanical, screw, opener. Even though it was a pain, it ended up costing nothing except frustration.

You might say I got frustrated over nothing.

First of all you have to be smarter than the machine.

Nice work. They're adding up & dropping off the list.
