CNC Machines are great and a goodd way of saving time and repeatability. The only problem is that the 3D model has to be drawn and that is not an easy task, even with specialised and very expensive software. N.U.R.B.S.* Modelling can be very, very time consuming if one is proficient in the use of the software, and we musn't forget that all these are only tools. First there must be an idea or concept of what one wants to achieve and express or capture it in whatever media of choice, be it paper, clay or virutal 3D CAD drawing. Call me old school if you want, but I'm faster sketching ideas on paper than in a PC although I see the advantages. Lately I'm using 3dSketchPro to make the same sketches I do on paper, and I'm still faster on paper but that's because I'm learning to use the tool.
