8 of 9 for the state fair

with the jardiniere being project 7 of 9 for the fair, i guess this one is number 8. it is a side table of a different design. it will stand 2 ft high, the top will be 24" in diameter, and the bottom shelf is 12" in diameter. i managed to set aside enough of the small offcuts from the chairs for the smaller legs, and the lower shelf. all i need get now is the red oak for the top and large legs.

slight change in plans, going with white oak, and finishing the same as the clock and jardiniere. couldn't find enough shorts in red oak, and went with everything in white oak. couldn't beat the price.

I like the design. Its like a cool twist on a Limbert-like style. State Fair hold on to your hats.

now that the jardiniere is done, and the boards planed to thickness, it was time to start laying out the parts. started in with the small shelf. cut to size and glued up. more work on the big legs and the top tomorrow.

a bit more done today. got the top blank glued up, and the leg blanks ready. the odd part on the legs are for the shelf support (you'll see once i cut the legs to shape).

even more done today. laid out the leg pattern on the blanks, laid out the circle for the small shelf. rough cut the leg blanks and small shelf, then sanded to lines. then it got even more fun, rigged up the router to the circle cutting jig and cut the circle for the top. then got a pic of pop spraying miracle gro on his lilacs. then the real fun happened, did the first test set up of the table and said wow....
