Since today is my Friday (and since I'll be pretty busy tomorrow), I figured I'd start the Friday thread rolling a day early this week. I suspect that I'm not the only one here in the US squeezing an extra day out of the holiday weekend. :)

Tomorrow morning I'm loading up the SUV and driving about 4 hours north to Ignacio Colorado to perform at the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally. I'm playing with The Electric Edric Project, filling in for my friend Edric, who you may recall was badly hurt in a motorcycle accident about 6 weeks ago. He's doing much better - he's breathing on his own now, and this week they were actually able to take him outside for the first time since the accident. :thumb:

This event is going to be a trial by fire for me, since we're potentially playing for over 1000 people, but I've only rehearsed with the band twice. (I've been practicing the songs by playing along with YouTube videos, but it's not the same as playing live with other musicians.) To add to the pressure, a lot of the songs we're doing have pretty prominent guitar parts, and if they are played wrong, the whole song falls apart. No pressure whatsoever, lol. The keyboardist in the band is one of my best friends, Steve. We first met when I stole his fiancee from him back in the 1970s. :D He and I played and toured together back in the '80s but this will be the first full shows we've played together in over 30 years. The singer is Marianna, who I've only known for a couple of years, but she and her husband have become great friends as well. Not only is she an awesome singer, she's gorgeous, has great stage presence, and is a truly sweet person. She doesn't have the "diva" syndrome that so many good singers - male or female - have. (She's also an awesome country singer, too.) The drummer (Billy) and the bassist (Rick) are also great guys. We're gonna have a blast. As a bonus, we're being provided rooms at a nearby resort/casino with a nice mix of amenities...in case we get tired of hanging around the bike rally.

Just for grins, here are the songs we're playing. Typical classic rock stuff with a few surprises...I suspect most of you will recognize at least a few of these:

All Right Now – Free
Keep Your Hands To Yourself – Georgia Satellites
Hot Blooded – Foreigner
You Give Love A Bad Name – Bon Jovi
Sledgehammer – Peter Gabriel
Fire Down Below – Bob Seger
Carry On My Wayward Son – Kansas
Open Arms – Journey
Locked Out of Heaven – Bruno Mars
What I Like About You – The Romantics
Hella Good – No Doubt
Rock & Roll – Led Zeppelin
Working For The Weekend – Loverboy
Any Way You Want It – Journey
Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You – Alan Parsons Project
Born On The Bayou – Credence Clearwater Revival
Your Love – The Outfield
Feels Like The First Time – Foreigner
Crossroads – Cream
Foreplay/Long Time – Boston
Separate Ways – Journey
Mustang Sally – Every Bar Band Ever
Comfortably Numb – Pink Floyd
Highway Star – Deep Purple

Y'all have a fun, relaxing, and safe weekend, y'hear?

:guitar:Sounds like you'll have a great time, Vaughn! :biker:

Today, Thursday was yard work - mowing, spraying, etc.

I'll spend most of the day in my shop on Friday doing some cleaning and organizing.

Saturday should also be a good day in my shop - maybe even building something!

Sunday will be :bbq::beer: along with watching some NASCAR, of course!

That's a great play list and it looks like you will be finished just in time for the "Suggestive Popsicle Eating Contest".
Meanwhile back at the ranch, we will be making pickles and canning dilly beans...with no chance of winning a new Harley:(

All week I have been doing just a little in the shop - preparing Cherry to make three plaques. One will be sold - second is almost certainly sold, third is for my home.

Also - I'll be working on my TEMP kitchen cabinet.

I will also be going to Newport R.I. to a car show at Fort Adams - and probable hang out in Newport a little.

No plans, dog-sitting for a neighbor, and those on both sides of us are gone until Monday night :bliss:

Started cleaning up the garden, cabbage bases, corn stalks etc. etc.

More time in the shop playing around, wife likes it when I durn near live out there, gives her a vacation/single feeling

Might take the dogs to the lake Sunday or Monday, depending on weather.

Working on the sign project a bit. Making some final decisions on how to attach and adjust the chain as well as the construction of the sign frames. I decided to go with white oak for the frames.

Friday my wife is going to spend the night at her mothers house as well as most of Saturday. My grand daughter Abby is sad I'm going to be alone so she invited me out to dinner. Just the two of us.(she is 8). I'm sure that she made reservations at her favorite restaurant, McDonalds :D She has also made secret plans for us on Saturday. Could be mini golf or glow bowling or a host of other things :dunno:

I haven't been in the shop since June. The last thing I made was the 2 adirondack chairs for a customer. I need to build a bookcase, hutch and 3 beds. Hopefully I can start to get everything organized on Sunday and Monday so I can start on the bookcase.

Tuesday I'm going into day surgery for the next attempt to get rid of my back pain. Hopefully this new idea the Doc has works. My son Bob, is going tuna fishing next weekend. Part of the "Wounded Warrior Project" and invited me to go with him. I'm not sure if my back will take it though.
It's quite an organization. They give the vets a totally free weekend. Hotel, meals, and fishing.

Tomorrow night we'll be heading out to see my parents. Sometime this weekend I'll be picking up the kegerator and kegs. I need to pickup the shop and purge a few things from it. Do maintenance on the mower and truck. Other than that I plan to get some pool time in.

Vaughn, good luck on your gig, I'm sure it will go fine.

good luck bob, I hope they have the solution for you.

this weekend, nothing really. Maybe some shop work put in a full day today, got a lot done on my sons lower portion of this work room/office.
cut apart an old cabinet top made of ash so I could finish off the last face frame for him.

wife is just about finished with radiation , last treatment Tuesday, so we have something to look forward too, getting rid of the treatments after 6 weeks.
Probably go out to dinner tomorrow night, and that's about it. boring.

Allen happy your wife is finishing radiation up.:thumb:

We hope to go to a AAA baseball game tonight but once again rain looks like it will get in the way. We got 3.5" yesterday and not sure we need anymore right now. Tomorrow I should get some shop time in the morning as the wife and kid need to go shopping for a couple birthday parties that are happening in the afternoon. Sunday we have 2 BBQ's and an anniversary party to attend so that will kepp us busy. Monday I hope to get the yard cleaned up and maybe a littel shop time.

It's Fair Season in Ohio. Canfield Fair (Mahoning County) all weekend. Going to Geauga County Fair today in Burton, Canfield tomorrow and again on Monday. Next week is Wooster Fair. The Canfield Fair is the biggest in Ohio. It's actually bigger than the state fair, except for the Draft Horse show.

All three county fairs have excellent Draft horse exhibitions, though. Wooster will likely have as many as ten six-horse hitches. All will have a couple sixes, and numerous fours, unicorns (threes), etc.

BTW, my 'circle-legged' table is at the Canfield Fair, and it got a First (Blue ribbon) place. Pictures too follow, after I get it back next week.

Did a 200 mile ride including Gettysburg. Stopped at a an AWESOME BBQ . Full rack of ribs. Made it to church and in the morning heading to Va for a couple days of hunting prep on stands and dove hunt Monday afternoon.
