In my beginner days of woodworking I assembled my larger projects on my garage floor. What a pain that was! I decided I really needed an assembly table. The table would have to be mobile due to limited space in my garage shop. I borrowed the drop design from a New Yankee Workshop episode. I followed the steps outlined by David Marks in a “Woodworks” episode to create a dead flat torsion box with a replaceable melamine top. I made the table just shy of my table saws height to serve as an out feed table as well. I beefed up the construction of the frame and drop down hardware as the MDF torsion box with melamine top is very heavy. The Assembly table works great and I no longer even consider using the floor for assembling projects.
