2 nightstands

I started 2 nightstands my son wanted as christmas gifts a few weeks back. He drew up a plan, includes a 2.5 inch high shelf for laptops. He wanted it 6" off the floor so I turned some feet. I finally did a dry fit yesterday. Been away from any woodworking for several months, this is the 1st project since last February

Well done, Bryan. The thin shelf is a curiosity. Can you share the purpose? I can think of book rack, I-Pad storage?

Actually, I was preoccupied. I knew what a 1 night stand was, but a 2 night stand had me thinking!

Great looking furniture. Your son should be very pleased to have it. From the looks of it, he will have it for a very long time: that is not Ikea.

However, I don't understand why anyone would want a laptop next to a bed.

The 2.5"high shelf is to put a laptop in there, as per owners ( My 40 yr old kid) drawing. :huh:

These kids live differently than us. Everyone in the house has a laptop + cell phones, etc. We have 3 married kids, with 10 grandchildren amongst them, and they are all the same, all kinds of electronics in the house.

got the feet glued on, upper shelf unit glued to the main top, fastening strip around top of base cabinet. Almost ready for stain.

got started on the staining, 2 bases done , using Old Masters Spanish Oak. Good match for Benjamin Moore Danish Walnut that is no longer sold here in Canada due to new Government regulations.
