    RIP Lesley

If you're my age and listened to R&R/Pop as a young person (that would be through the 60's) you might remember Lesley Gore. I certainly do, one of my favorite artists at the time. She died yesterday at age 68. Interesting tidbit: her dad was a garment manufacturer in NY, he was the one who invented Gore-Tex. Anyway, Godspeed Lesley....you will be missed.

She was a bit before my time, but I heard her music a lot as a kid. I didn't know the connection between her and Gore-Tex.

My parents didn't have many R&B or pop albums (mostly folk and jazz) but there was a Lesley Gore album and I remember it well. Heard a story about her and her rise to fame with Quincy Jones on NPR this morning, but never knew about the Gortex connection either.

    Ohhh - I remember

Loved the music - and it lives on.

To bad - 68 is so young to go.

I shed a quiet tear for her today. Whenever one of these people from my youth goes, I feel I have lost something, if you know what I mean.
    Cheers,
