Made this frame for the wife to put her "favorite saying" in.

Cherry, with 'tiger' maple inlay. About 11" X 15". Finish is about ten coats of Target EM6000 waterborne lacquer, rubbed to a satin sheen.

Very cool. Was that a lamination that you then milled?

No, I milled the cherry to its final profile, then cut the slot (dado) for the inlay - about 1/8" deep. Then cut the maple strips to fit the slot. After that, I cut the miters for the assembly.

Used 'mini biscuits' to reinforce the miters. That little Ryobi mini biscuit jointer comes in handy sometimes. I don't use it often, but it's nice to have for stuff like this.

Nice frame Jim but even better saying from your wife. Mmmm wondering about how many have an imagination anymore. Was one of the great things i enjoyed about the radio and growing up with no tv.

I think that image would also make a nice embroidered piece if it was made into one. Would give it a 3D look.
