    Top Coat Over Wax?

I saw an interesting video on some decorative techniques using wax and artists oils.

    http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworki....aspx?id=28733

the author mentions applying shellac for a glossy finish(?) I'm wondering what sort of topcoat, if any, can be applied to maintain the surface?

I don't recommend putting anything over top the wax. Wax is not a permanent curring finish and therefore anything over top will not be able to adhere properly.
