    Burl score

Picked up loads of black cherry burl from a guy on Facebook. This is a commission pen for a guy at work to his dad...Big time game hunter. Bolt action cherry burl. 8 coats of CA knocked down with 0000 steel wool. Not fond of the kit...no real turning involved but they sell. Thanks for looking!Click image for larger version.

Nice one, Jim! A little burl goes a long way making pens.

Well you did a beautiful job turning and finishing. Beautiful burl wood! I amn not fond of those kits, but they seem to very popular. I just never have seen a cartridge with a bolt action in it. Just doesn't make sense to me. (did I use the correct sense? Never can remember) I do or did love to make cartridge pen using real casings and bullets.

That's a nice looking pen! I never have turned any pens for who knows what reasons. I don't. But, I certainly admire the finite work involved. Great job.
