I don't do many bowls anymore because....well...it's a bowl! I may have a spot as an instructor at the local wood working store so I figured it maybe time to refresh the skills. Not sure what the wood is but it's been in the shop for 7-8 years. 9" x 3" with 1/2" walls. Burned the rim but not to much so some grain would show through. Couple coats of WOP satin. Thanks for looking!

Nice looking bowl Jim. What did you use to burn the rim, if I may ask?

Thanks folks!
You may indeed sir!! MAPP gas torch (any kind of torch would work, just what was in the cabinet), on the lathe and spinning by hand. Lucky it didn't check on me, but the stuff was dry as a rock.
I was thinking back to Jeff Bowers stuff several years ago, kinda why I left it a little chunky. Has a great feel in the hand if I do say so myself ;)

Looking pretty good to me, you still have it!

The teaching gig sounds like it could be fun. I've found that there's no better way to learn how little you know about something than trying to teach someone else how to do it :D
