Greeting y'all

I'm planning to make some shelves in my son's wardrobe using 97"x12"x5/8" melamine and my SCMS.

My question is does anyone have experience cutting dadoes in this stuff using only a thin kerf 100t blade on an SCMS? What was the process used? What was the end result? Would you do it again if you had to? Why or why not? :dunno:

Thanks,

Yann

yann, a router will give you much better results.....there`s a glue known as "roo-glue" that`s used to glue directly to melimine so no need for dados unless you just want dados?......tod

I understand a router or even a table saw with a dado set would give much better results but I don't have access to a 5/8" straight bit or a dado set for a TS.

That glue you mention sounds like an interesting option.

Or I'll just screw an 1/2" lip to the wall and let the shelves sit on that.

I'm just looking for something at my skill level that looks nice.

Thanks,

Yann

Yann, I am not sure how you would go about using a SCMS to cut dados??? I think your best bet would be to invest in a router. This is after all a great "new tool" justification. The blocks would work fine also. For a closet, that may be your best option.
