A Shelf for George

I used a simple cleat, visible in the first picture, screwed into two studs with #10 x 2 1/2" screws and then screwed to the underside of the shelf, all three. The shelf will hold a touch screen, a wireless speaker, and charging space for phones and tablets. Nothing heavy. I did caution against leaning on the one unsupported front corner.
