I haven't made any Charles but when I was a kid we used these, I don't know if they existed as well in US. Knowing how good your boxes are making one similar won't pose a problem to you for sure.

The little boxes with the sliding top lids like Toni showed are what I remember as pencil boxes. They were common in the office supply stores in Germany and Italy when we lived there. I even think I've seen them here. Nowadays they are probably plastic.

    Charles,

I did a google search for 'wooden pencil boxes' and then selected images. WOW, there are lots of them to look over with some very clever designs, including a roll top version. Have a look for sure.

When you asked about pencil boxes, my first thought was the slide-top boxes the others showed. I looked around for artist pencil boxes and found this small one that seems like a good design since the pencils are held in an upright line ready to use.

Those are some very nice Boxes Bob, I will probably go with something along those lines. I also like the one that holds the pencils ready for use.
