    Some small Boxes

Been a while since I posted, just to prove we are still spinning bits of wood here are some little boxes made to use up some of a stash of lid blanks that got left in a cupboard.

Awesome as usual Chas, your work is very impressive.
I'm supposed to respect my elders, but its getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Sorry for the double thread, having trouble with Edge here trying to edit posts, had to resort to Chrome to upload.

OK. Seeing we have a double here, I'll say it again seeing I was going from down to up. Me going backwards. Good work, there.

Beautiful as we have come to expect from you Chas. Thanks for sharing them. Is the bowl part ash or white Oak having a hard time deciding. The lid is amazing in fit. You sure have mastered this segmented lid concept. Happy Christmas to you.
    cheers

    Thanks for the comments folks.
Rob they are predominantly European Oak bodies and Walnut, * not sure of exact species as it came as off-cuts from a furniture manufacture.

DSCN5065.JPG has Local hedgerow Elm in the lid.

Good to see you around Chas, always enjoy seeing your work.

Lovely pieces. you really have the spiral trick down there are no gaps at all there!

I like the "melty" looking grain on the elm piece it goes well with the walnut imho. I can see where the contrast provided by the straighter grain of the beech would appeal more to some folks though.
