Replacing the closet

Today I got all the frames done for the frame and panel doors. These are wide doors so I went with a large tenon, 1 1/2" deep.

To me, this would be the fun part of the project. I like working with poplar. I am looking forward to the next steps.

All finished!

Put the last of the hardware on this morning and a little cold molding up ne ar the top. Project complete. Time to move onto one of the bathrooms.

I think this is so much more attractive than a standard 2 x 4 and drywall with sliding doors. I also think there is more usable space because of the large drawers on the bottom and the cubby cabinet on top. The bead board in the panels goes with the bead board ceiling in this room. I think it is a nice complement to the light maple floor.

Looks great! Much better than the standard closet. Looks like you built it just like you designed it. I'm saving this thread for future reference. This might work to help turn that room over the garage into an official bedroom.:thumb::thumb:

Top shelf work, Rennie. (Well, and middle cabinet and lower drawer work, too.) :D It came out looking great, and should be a nice value addition to the home sale.
